Moving to a new phone? Export first

Privacy has a moving cost. Pay it once, on purpose.

Moving phones with Endonem takes one deliberate step because the record lives only on your device. It stays out of your backups on purpose, so no copy of your symptom history ever sits in iCloud. A new phone therefore starts a new record. Export first if you want your history to move with you.

  1. 1. Compile the reports you want to keep

Open the reports list and compile any open entries into a sealed report before moving day. Reports you have already compiled stay yours to read, print and send forever, subscribed or not. Sealed pages travel better than raw entries. Print the current one or send it to yourself through the share sheet.

  2. 2. Take the free encrypted backup

Take an encrypted backup of the whole record while the old phone still opens. The backup is free whenever you want one, subscribed or not. The record lives in an encrypted database on the device, with a key held in the Keychain that never leaves it. Keep that file somewhere only you control.

  3. 3. Accept the cost, plainly stated

There is no account and no server, and the app has no networking code at all. That is why nothing can restore itself onto the new phone. A new phone starts a new record, so export first if you want your history to move with you. This cost is the other side of no copy ever sitting in iCloud.

  4. 4. Start clean on the new phone

Install Endonem on the new phone and walk the intake free. The intake is free to walk, and page 1 of the report it compiles stays free to export and print. File the carried reports beside the new entries. Months from now the two sets read as one history with a visible seam.
